AI for atenttion detection in the classroom
Another use case developed by the ROVIT research group focuses on the use of artificial intelligence for automatic attention detection in the classroom. Humans are inherently social beings, and education is no exception — teaching and learning are deeply shaped by interpersonal and emotional communication between teachers and students. This project aims to harness AI and Deep Learning technologies to analyze not only the information exchanged in a learning environment, but also how it is expressed and received on an emotional level.
Through the analysis of facial expressions, body gestures, and biometric signals, the system can infer levels of attention and emotional engagement during both online and face-to-face classes. The goal is to advance toward “intelligent learning”, optimizing teaching processes in in-person, remote, and hybrid contexts. The AI-based tool enables the identification and management of emotional states in real time, providing valuable insights into how students react to different teaching methodologies.
